People ask me all the time, “How do you do it?” I say, “Just keep going. It’s the only answer.”
As a busy mom, sometimes I have to work in 5-minute increments;
* #Write down a book idea in the minutes it takes the shower to warm up
* Empty the dishwasher in the morning while trying to shove my son’s new AFO (foot brace) into his sneakers while he’s perseverating on some phrase over and over (or swear word) and not brushing his teeth after the hundredth reminder and getting to the bus on time (I digress!!!😬🤪🤦♀️)
* Throw in a load of laundry in before soccer so it’s done when I get back…
Finishing a big task at work or having a big to do list is the same scenario. I find that if I break it up into smaller chunks, I can get it all done. Sometimes the thing you’ve been dreading only takes a few minutes, so block out 3-5 minutes. Chances are you might then stick with it for 10 or 20 minutes and you might even finish it. If not, you’ve at least started.
If the task seems too daunting, you’ll keep putting it off. (I know! This is my story with putting away the laundry!)
So do PART ONE of it for now. Realistically, sometimes your task can take hours, or weeks, or months, or even years … but if you keep chipping away at it in small chunks, you will finish it. I promise! #youcandoittoo #keepgoing
